Bonnie vs Assistent

Two AI phone assistants for restaurants, two very different scopes. See how Bonnie and Assistent.ai compare on pricing, languages, integrations, multi-site coordination and setup.

Bonnie vs. Assistent.ai

Both Bonnie and Assistent.ai do the same core job: pick up the phone when your team can't. But the way they charge, the languages they speak, and the markets they're built for are fundamentally different. Which one fits depends mostly on one question: how many calls does your restaurant receive per month?

The pricing model is the most important difference

Assistent.ai charges for each call, with no monthly base fee. The first 300 calls cost €0.35 each, calls 301 to 750 cost €0.32, and above 750 the rate drops to €0.28 per call. On top of that you pay a one-time setup fee of €99, and SMS notifications cost €0.10 each.

In theory this works well if your restaurant gets very few calls or you only want the assistant active occasionally. For a quiet venue with 100 calls per month the cost comes to around €35.

In practice though most restaurants get far more than 100 calls a month. A busy restaurant in a city centre can handle 400 to 800 calls per month. At 500 calls Assistent.ai will cost around €164. At 800 calls that rises to around €237. Both figures are higher than Bonnie's Business plan at €215 per month, which includes 1,000 call minutes with no per-call charge.

With Bonnie, a busy Friday night costs the same as a quiet Tuesday. With Assistent.ai, every call is a cost you cannot fully predict.

Cost breakdown by monthly call volume

Monthly call volume Assistent.ai cost Bonnie plan Bonnie cost
Up to 300 calls ~€105 (excl. €99 setup) Starter €135/month

1,500+ calls €390+ Pro €420/month, no overages

Assistent.ai costs are estimated based on their published per-call rates. The actual costs depend on how many calls you make. Bonnie's annual plans save you 10%.

Assistent.ai does not support Dutch yet

Assistent.ai currently works in German, French and English. Dutch is not supported. According to their own Zenchef help documentation the Zenchef integration also only works for German and French clients right now, with Dutch support planned as a future addition.

For a restaurant in Amsterdam, Rotterdam or Antwerp this is a real problem. Your guests call in Dutch, and if the assistant cannot respond in Dutch it simply is not a usable solution yet.

Bonnie, by contrast, handles over 20 languages including Dutch from day one. Whether a guest calls in Dutch, French, German or English they get a response in their own language without any extra setup.

The integrations show which market each product is built for

Assistent.ai integrates with reservation systems common in Germany and Austria, such as aleno, resmio, Gastro.Digital and Tably. Formitable is also on their list, which is a good sign for Dutch users.

Assistent.ai

Built for DACH

Integrations designed around German and Austrian reservation systems. Dutch market support is not complete yet.

Bonnie

Built for Europe

Zenchef, TheFork, Formitable, Guestplan, MICE Operations, TableFever, Soigne, WhatsApp and Zapier. Ready to use from day one.

So if your venue uses Zenchef or Guestplan and serves Dutch-speaking guests Bonnie is the ready option. Assistent.ai may well support your market in the future, but not fully today.

Self-serve in 30 minutes vs. a team that handles it for you

Assistent.ai sets up your assistant through their team. After you request a test their experts configure the system, and you go live once onboarding is complete. This process costs €99 once, and for operators who prefer a guided experience it works well.

The downside is speed and flexibility. Any change to your setup, like updated opening hours, a new menu or a different FAQ answer, also has to go through their team or requires learning their back-end.

With Bonnie the setup is entirely self-serve. Sign up, connect your reservation system, set your preferences and go live — all in under 30 minutes. Any changes afterwards happen immediately in the app, with no waiting and no setup fee.

When Assistent.ai is the right choice

Assistent.ai is a good fit for restaurants in Germany, Austria or Switzerland with a low to moderate call volume that prefer a team-led setup. The pay-per-call model also suits venues that want the assistant active only during peak hours or rest days, without committing to a monthly fee.

That said, it is not the right fit for restaurants in the Netherlands or Belgium, venues with Dutch-speaking guests or operators who need Zenchef or Guestplan integration today.

When Bonnie is the right choice

If your restaurant is in the Netherlands, Belgium or serves Dutch-speaking guests Bonnie is the ready option today. Moreover, if predictable pricing matters more than paying only for what you use Bonnie is the more transparent choice no matter where you operate.

What a missed call actually costs you

A missed call is on average a missed reservation for four people. At €45 per guest that works out to €180 per missed call. Ten missed calls a week, which is a realistic number for a busy restaurant, adds up to €7,200 per month in lost revenue.

Bonnie costs between €135 and €420 per month depending on your volume. As a result, if it captures even a fraction of those missed calls it pays for itself quickly.

For low-volume restaurants in the DACH region Assistent.ai's pay-per-call model is worth considering. For restaurants in the Netherlands, Belgium or any venue with Dutch-speaking guests however Bonnie is the ready-to-use option today.

A real-world scenario

A German restaurant switching from Assistent.ai

A restaurant in Berlin with around 600 incoming calls per month tries Assistent.ai. Setup goes smoothly through their team. But two problems surface quickly: guests calling in Dutch reach an assistant that responds in German or English, which feels jarring. And the Zenchef integration is not available for Dutch accounts yet, so reservations still need to be entered manually.

With Bonnie, the assistant picks up in the caller's language, pushes reservations directly into Zenchef, and sends a WhatsApp confirmation. At 600 calls per month, the monthly cost is €215 rather than the roughly €190 Assistent.ai would charge at that volume. The predictability and the language support make the difference.
